A fresh start for the coming electric revolution
You might notice something slightly different about Visedo today.
If you’re aware of what we do, you’ll notice new branding. If you haven’t heard of Visedo – the company behind the most efficient electric power for heavy-duty applications – we’re hoping you will soon.
In 2009, when Visedo was founded with the vision of doing things better. Up until then, competitors making electric motors for ships, buses and machinery were adapting standard industrial technology for new motors. Obsolete thinking.
We did things differently, engineering our electric drivetrains from the ground-up. Without getting too technical, our hardware and software advances delivered crucial efficiencies for the operating area that electric machines operated in the most in these applications. They are not equal to pumps or fans. Revolutionary thinking that delivered actual results, rather than on a whiteboard.
Behind the technology I assembled a team of the brightest minds and together we continued to design – from our operations in Lappeenranta, Finland – the most efficient, the smallest, lightest, most robust hybrid and electric drivetrains possible.
In the years that followed we then began to tell the world. We opened a new factory and grew by 500 per cent in three years. We won the tender to power the world’s most ambitious electric ferry project. We delivered power for more buses, more ships and more machinery. We even powered one of the world’s quickest EVs just for the fun of it. We then finished 2016 by closing a €20 million financing round.
So you might ask, why the new brand? Why the new logo, website and company messaging? After all, the old look was just like us: hardworking, Finnish and straight to the point.
We needed to say things differently because the planet is at a critical moment right now.
The electrification of the world’s transport is already underway. The drive to cut down diesel usage and ending pollution is fast becoming reality. Yet just like how petrol replaced the horse and cart, the electrification revolution will come just once in our lifetimes. It is an opportunity as much as it is a concern for what will happen if we don’t act fast enough.
We needed a new voice to communicate how we will change the way the world’s transport is powered.
To do this we’re also recruiting additional skillsets to the company. We’ve now a new board, a strengthened management group and key new hires in human resources, services and marketing. This recruitment continues so if you think you’ll bring something unique to the team, we’d like to hear from you.
We also want to continue empowering our team. This week Visedo brought personnel from across our operations to our office in Helsinki to launch the new company brand – to hear how far we’ve come and plan what we now need to do.
We also brought everyone together to give our new team members a feeling for what it means to be a “Visedor”. Not only do we want the best team, we want to offer our Visedors the best platform for them to unleash their special powers.
This moment in history is crucially important for Visedo. In 2017 we’re aiming for an even faster growth cycle, so we can lead the sector before 2020. We also want to expand into new countries and markets.
We’ve already made a good start: we’ve chalked up more sales in two months than we did in all of 2016. In Taiwan, we helped launch Asia’s first hybrid electric ferry. Closer to home we powered Helsinki’s first fully electric buses.
We’re planning many more firsts for the rest of 2017 so stay tuned.
