Kimmo Rauma selected for Lappeenranta University of Technology board
Visedo CEO Kimmo Rauma has been selected to be part of the new board of directors of Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) for the term 2018-2021. The other external members include top experts in entrepreneurship, internationalisation, Russian business, and sustainability.
Kimmo is an alumni of LUT and has since grown Visedo from promising Finnish startup to a leading international electric mobility company. Kimmo’s expertise in cleantech and international growth entrepreneurship will be a key asset to the board. This nomination follows the recent acquisition of Visedo by global technology leader Danfoss.
LUT’s board of directors is appointed by the university collegium. Its chair, Olli Pyrhönen, states that the members appointed are strongly connected to LUT’s strategy, research and education.
“In accordance with our strategy, our board includes top experts in clean energy and water, the circular economy, entrepreneurship and sustainable business. They also understand the importance of academic research and education to society,” Pyrhönen elaborates.
LUT’s board has nine members, five of whom come from outside of the university community and four from within the university. The other new external members are Chairman of the Board Teresa Kemppi-Vasama, Ilkka Salonen, Tuomo Rönkkö, and Liisa Rohweder from WWF Finland. Tuomo Rönkkö is also Chairman for the board of Visedo.
LUT’s professors are represented on the board by Aki Mikkola, a professor of mechanical engineering, and Paavo Ritala, a professor of strategy and innovations. The general staff is represented by Associate Professor Mari Kallioinen, the director of the Re-source research platform. The student member is business student Henri Antikainen.
